BASIC MODELS OF QUALITY IMPROVEMENT IN HEALTHCARE

 

In order to achieve success in the improvement of patient experiences, a number of quality improvement models may be applied. The three main methods include;

Six sigma- a model that capitalizes on getting rid of defects and variations in the health sector (Finkelman, 2017)..

LEAN- a method that helps in reducing wastage by emphasizing on efficiency

The Institute of Healthcare Improvement( IHI) Model- a model used for the general improvement in health care facilities.There are three common models known for quality improvement in the healthcare sector. The first model is the six sigma model, a model that concentrates on the elimination of variance in the health sector. The second model is the LEAN model, a model that emphasizes efficiency specifically on reducing the wastage of resources. The last common model is the IHI or what is known as The Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Model. The model emphasizes the general improvement of the operations in a health care facility.
