It is August 7, 1945, and it is your task and responsibility to write a persuasive one page letter, in standard business format, to President Truman. You must help guide his decision to drop or not drop the second atomic bomb. Be assured that your letter will reach the president’s desk before August 9, 1945 and he will read it. Points to consider:

  • Do we need this second show of force? Why or why not?
  • Do we need to prove that we have more than one bomb? Is this critical?
  • Could it be done in another way?
