Patient education related to diabetic complications

Patient education related to diabetic complications

You are assuming care in a diabetes clinic for your patients. Patients have expressed that they feel “uneducated” and you have noticed a knowledge gap in your Type II diabetic patients.

Create a patient flyer/handout/brochure or video of yourself explaining the following:

-What is Type II diabetes?

-What are the symptoms of high/low blood glucose?

-What are ways Type II diabetics can manage and maintain their health? (i.e. exercise, diet etc,)

-List examples of short and long term insulins

-Peak, onset and duration

-Name and briefly describe 2 other medications that diabetics may have (pick any two) ordered to manage their condition.

-Identify and provide patient education related to diabetic complications (i.e. neuropathy, vision loss, etc.)

-add any additional information you feel it is IMPERATIVE for your diabetic patients to know, they are learning from YOU!
