Police Use of Force Use of Less than Lethal Force and Bail Process Paper

Throughout the past three decades, the courts have continued to redefine “lawful use of force”. Today, officers must discern, instantaneously, which level of force is adequate and acceptable when he or she has to engage a suspect in a violent or potentially violent situation. Discuss each level of force and when that type of force should be applied. Discuss the differences between what constitutes the use of deadly force and the use of less-than-lethal force. Provide an example of each and argue for or against the use of each example. Is it possible for a less-than-lethal force to be considered deadly force by a court of law?
