What is the WIC Program ? – the special supplemental nutrition program for Women , Infants , Children .
It offers nutrition education, breastfeeding support , referrals , and a variety of nutritious foods to low income pregnant, breastfeeding postpartum women , infants and children up to age five to promote and support good health .
The program was establish to address the growing concern of malnutrition among low-income mothers and children
This is a form of welfare for pregnant women and children to meet their basic needs .
