Stakeholder support

 Stakeholder support

takeholders can include patients, healthcare professionals, payers, and policymakers. The quality of the Healthcare systems depends heavily on how mobilized and concerned these professional groups are in ensuring quality health services (The Future of Healthcare, 2020). The policymakers make decisions on healthcare policies or implementing projects based on the communities needs. Payers take care of the financial aspect and look for sustainable options. Healthcare professionals will implement the project, care for the patient, and keep records. And the patient will receive the service. All these must work together for a project to be successful. In my case, management must change a policy for nurses to require a minimum of so many hours of breastfeeding education, this would facilitate the adoption of the proposal. The hospital must find the funding to pay their nurses to obtain this education. International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) will facilitate this change by sharing their skills and knowledge and providing guidance to implementing this proposal. The maternity nurses will then educate their patients with their new acquired knowledge. Finally, the patient will benefit from the education and hopefully be successful with breastfeeding. Together these stakeholders will ensure successful implementation of my evidence-based project. all stakeholders have the ability to interact with one another in order to facilitate the implementation of an intervention (Griffiths, et al., 2007).

Outside stakeholders can consist of politicians, legislators, healthcare insurance providers and funders. The government can provide funding for nurses to obtain their (IBCLC). These external stakeholders play a major supportive role in implementation of change by provision of the required resources (Griffiths, et al., 2007). They can also ensure that all new mothers have access to breastfeeding clinics and IBCLC nurses are available in all maternity wards. To obtain their support, the benefits of breastfeeding, the lack of support, how support attributes to breastfeeding adherence and breastfeeding rates can be presented. This can be done by writing to congress, requesting an appointment, getting support at the local level, and then moving on up. Having the support of outside stakeholders can impact the publics perception of breastfeeding. It is also important to understand that some stakeholders may be enablers and others may be resistors, and some may simply not care.

Stakeholder support is necessary for a successful project implementation. Consider your internal stakeholders, such as the facility, unit, or health care setting where the change proposal is being considered, and your external stakeholders, like an individual or group outside the health care setting. Why is their support necessary to the success of your change proposal, and how you will go about securing that support?
