  • Using the case of Mitra and the SAME target issue that you explained in Week 1 using classical conditioning, now explain that SAME target issue issuing operant conditioning and post your summary. Make sure you consider the following in your explanation:
    • What happens immediately after the target behavior occurs?
    • What type of reinforcements (positive and/or negative) exists?
    • What is/are this particular reinforcement(s) effective? In other words, why do they maintain the behavior?
    • Are there any punishments being used to decrease the behavior? If so, by whom and what is the type of punishment (negative and/or positive)?
    • Are the punishments effective? Why or why not?

    Then please review TWO postings from your peers and complete this discussion board for the following questions:

    • In your responses to your peers, please include your professional evaluation of the student’s use of operant conditioning to explain the target issue.
    • What would you recommend to the student to make their explanation more effective?

  • Discussion Board – Social Learning Theory

    This discussion will have two parts. For Part I, use the case of Mitra, and for the SAME target issue that you explained previously using classical and operant conditioning, now explain it using social learning theory and post your summary. Make sure you consider the following in your explanation:

    • What is being modeled?
    • What ways is vicarious reinforcement occurring? Or vicarious punishment?

    Part II of your response, should then put it all together to use all of the behavioral theories to explain Mitra’s behavior. In Part II of your response, answer the following:

    • According to behavioral theory can you explain Mitra’s current struggles by using the three main theories to describe her struggles
      • Respondent/Classical
      • Operant
      • Social Learning
      • Use the ABC framework to help organize the material

    Then please review TWO responses from your peers and answer the following questions:

    • In your responses to your peers, please include your professional evaluation of the student’s use of first social learning theory and then behavioral theory as a whole to explain the target issue.
    • What would you recommend to the student to make their explanation more effective?
