The attached file contains the midterm exam. The exam consists of four short answer questions. Each question is worth up to 25 points.

The questions require you to analyze and synthesize ideas by developing a comparison/contrast between a specific literary element. Be sure to read each question carefully to make sure that you understand the task. You’ll notice that most questions are multi-layered. Be sure to craft your response with the greatest clarity and coherence possible. Assume that readers are familiar with the texts/films and keep summaries to an absolute minimum. Cite specific passages from the texts we have studied to support and develop the response but be sure to explain the connections you are making. Do not consult and/or cite outside sources. Use the Microsoft Word tools to help edit each response.

Technical Conventions:

  • Compose the analyses in the present tense when invoking a text. Only use the past tense when referring to authors who are deceased.
  • Double space the document throughout
  • Select an easy to read size 12 font
  • Adhere to standard one-inch margins
