The term “Global War on Terror” – or GWOT – featured prominently in your course content this week. As you may recall, in 2013, then-President Obama announced that the GWOT was over (see link). However, that year also witnessed the Boston Marathon bombings and the emergence of ISIS as a worldwide terror threat.
For your discussion question this week, take a position on whether or not the U.S. is engaged in an ongoing war against terrorism, or to the contrary, as President Obama asserted, are we in conflict against specific networks (e.g. Hezbollah) rather than a specific tactic (i.e. terrorism)? Provide some recent examples of U.S. policies that support whichever position you choose.
