Non-Western Iconographies Comparative Analysis

Non-Western Iconographies Comparative Analysis

For this museum paper you should select two objects/artwork from any non-Western culture

such as Africa, Asia, Native Americas, or the Middle East, and then compare and contrast them

via an iconographic approach. As before, include descriptions of the work’s formal elements:

describe and compare their shape, color, and so forth. Are there designs on them; and if so, do

you think it helps in the way the works may look to you overall? Formalism is concerned with

the aesthetic qualities of a work of art, while iconography refers to its meaning and context.

Your selected objects/artworks should come from the American Museum of Natural History on Central Park West and 79th St, or the Museum of the American Indian, or the Rubin Museum of Art.
