Recommendation for The Stock Advanced Micro Devices Persuasive Paper

Length: 1300-1500 words

Focus: Students will have three options on a recommendation for the stock Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and will be expected to argue persuasively/effectively for the viewpoint. The choices are: (1) a buy recommendation, (2) a pass/no action recommendation or (3) a short sale recommendation.

I recommend buying the stock.

recommendation in the first paragraph of their paper (Get Right To The Point) and use the rest of their paper to explain and support the recommendation. It could be basic

Visuals: Minimum of four charts. A maximum of two charts can be borrowed from outside sources (including the company), and at least two charts will be produced by the student. Any additional charts beyond the minimum of four will be produced by the student. I attached two presentations that just had some graphs and information about the company. You could make a chart about the recent quarters , cash flow, or the PE Ratio and talk about why we should Invest in the company AMD.

Grading: In addition to guidance mentioned above, grading on the final paper will be heavily based on how well the student uses the “Pro Tips” discussed at length in class. Other factors influencing the paper’s grade will include (1) quality of analysis, (2) persuasiveness of arguments, (3) relevance of visuals to the paper’s key points and (4) effort in executing the paper.

Sources: A list of sources with live links must be included at the bottom of the paper. There is no minimum number of sources

ATTENTION: You are expected to express everything in your own words. I will be especially vigilant about anything that resembles cut-and-paste from an outside source – this includes passages, sentences or paragraphs that are entirely or mostly someone else’s words. DO NOT COPY AND DO NOT CUT AND PASTE. Changing a few words of someone else’s work does not make it your work.

You should analyze the past six quarters of income statements, cash flow statements and consolidated balance sheets to determine trends in the company’s financial health. News reports of quarterly results may be useful in determining trends/financial health.
