Using Data to Drive Instructions Discussion

The principal in this weeks video stated that there were remarkable differences in assessments prior to the advent of using data to drive instruction. Even students with disabilities performance drastically rose and the achievement gap shrank when utilizing pacing guides linked by assessments. What does this mean to teachers and administrators? That the only way to improve students quality of learning and increase scores on assessments, is to tie instruction directly to the standards, as outlined by the pacing guide.”Research has found that faculty in successful schools always question existing instructional practice and do not blame lack of student achievement on external causes.” (Glickman,2018) As an administrator, my job is to not only familiarize myself with the curriculum, but sit in on planning sessions for each grade level to ensure that I can work alongside educators to align lessons to the standards.
